All the Updates all the Time…

It’s been quite a while since I’ve blogged on here and I want to apologise to those who are reading. A lot has gone down in the last few months. Besides pulling myself out of the muck of depression and chronic anxiety, my time has consumed with a little romance. And on top of that, work has been somewhat sporadic. So I think the main topic today is what do you do when clientele are down and you really need to make some decent coin?
Well the advice is to focus on serving and creating work. I think that’s actually pretty good advice because it takes your attention off the thing you don’t want (lack of funds) and puts it on what you do want it (happy clients and an abundance of good work). My mission here is to create something unique for people, tell their stories in a way that allows them to be heard, allows their message and mission to be communicated to the world, and improves their lives in a personal and business sense. These days it’s all about the whole self, the wholistic self, your true authentic self because that’s what shines through to people and creates that connection. Personally I’m on board with the whole concept but I’m still finding it hard to navigate and not compare myself to the top earning entrepreneurs or even those I follow who seem to have it all now. The trick is to be inspired and motivated by others’ success but not take it into yourself and make comparisons. You can only compare yourself to yourself. Present you vs past you.
Now for the good news, I’ve been writing pretty consistently (a struggle for even the most gifted of writers especially since we can find many reasons not to write), both creatively and professionally. The ideas are flowing, the clients I am working with are happy, and the work is coming out. The trick with this whole entrepreneur thing is to create something people can see, a completed product or a service that garners them results as quickly and as efficiently as possible. That becomes a little tricky with books because they’re massive projects that take months to do and before the first masterpiece comes out, you’re not really anyone except a person with words. The small projects I’ve done speak for themselves and I’m grateful to the clients who have positively recommended me. But the more important thing is that the work was done well and now I have a very satisfied client.
Anyway, enough of that nonsense! What about the work?! What are you up to?
Well let me just tell you:
the major book project I’ve been working on in a collaboration will be finished in the next couple of weeks! Yay to that!
I’ve been consistently writing articles for the online fitness publication Fitness Republic and three new articles have been published this summer thus far (you can find them in my ‘Sample writing‘ section);
my workbook idea is coming together and this will serve people dealing with mental illness such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc. and I’m looking for someone to collaborate with on it;
I’ll be travelling to England this September and meeting with friends and my romantic interest (cue hearts and butterflies in stomach) but I plan to do some travel blogging and article writing in light of this! <3
and I’ve been working out at the gym like a freaking boss and may be going for my RPM training to be a new spin instructor!
also, I’ve discovered Periscope (@hazelcelt) and I think I may have some ideas for this… Stay tuned!
So there you have it! Updates galore. I’ll be publishing a post for writers predominantly but it may also be helpful for clients to understand the value a writer contributes to their business and why they need to be paid well for what they do. Honour artists.
Take care all and happy Monday! <3
